This section of scripture - so long used as checklist - to drive a woman crazy attempting to live up to all of it may have been intended as something very, very different.
Throughout Proverbs there is a call to seek after WISDOM. Proverbs 31 is additionally the advice of a King's mother to her son to not get drunk, to not commit or allow injustice, and so much more.
The call in verse 10 may be turn her eyes on the bigger picture of the qualities all around him. "Who can find a woman of valor? Her worth is beyond jewels!" Then, the mother parades models across the minds eye....
The woman who...
The woman who...
The woman who...
Not one woman with all these gifts but woman seen every day functioning within their gifts to the benefit of husband, family, and others.
Thus men would sing this song as a praise to all the women in their history, in their life, and in their community.
Yet, oddly, this part was not carried over into Christianity.
As a result, generations of girls have sought to find themselves in scripture but instead they are given a long checklist of incredible Herculean tasks they must mast.
And the song of the men in blessing to the woman....it has long been silenced.
